Important: BowlSafe is a workload management tool, not a medical device. It does not replace the advice of a sports doctor, physiotherapist, or medical professional. Always consult a qualified health professional for injury diagnosis and treatment.
1. About BowlSafe
BowlSafe is a cricket bowling load management application operated by The Trustee for Lien Trust — Rowan Freight & Logistic Group Pty Ltd T/A BowlSafe (ABN 76 571 549 850) ("we", "us", "BowlSafe"). By using BowlSafe you agree to these terms.
BowlSafe is designed to help coaches and players track bowling workloads against governing body guidelines from Cricket Australia, the ECB, and NZC. It is a tool to support informed decision-making — not a guarantee of injury prevention.
2. Eligibility
BowlSafe is designed for use with junior cricketers of all ages, including players under 13. Account registration and data management works as follows:
- Players aged 13 and over may register their own account. Players under 18 require parental or guardian consent before registering.
- Players under 13 must be added to BowlSafe by a coach or parent — they do not register their own accounts. Coaches log sessions on their behalf.
- Coaches and administrators are responsible for obtaining parental or guardian consent before adding any player under 18 to their coaching group.
- Coaches and administrators must be authorised by their club or organisation to manage player data.
- By registering you confirm you have the authority to use the app and, where applicable, to manage the data of players in your care.
Legal basis for age requirements: The 13-year self-registration threshold is consistent with the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the United Kingdom's Age Appropriate Design Code (Children's Code) under UK GDPR, and industry standards adopted by Apple App Store and Google Play. In Australia, the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) do not specify a minimum age but require that personal information of children be handled with appropriate care. In England and Wales, the UK Children's Code applies to players and coaches using ECB guidelines. In New Zealand, the Privacy Act 2020 applies. BowlSafe complies with all applicable privacy laws in its operating jurisdictions.
3. Medical disclaimer
BowlSafe provides workload tracking and guideline reference tools only. The app does not:
- Diagnose injuries or medical conditions
- Provide medical advice
- Guarantee that following guideline limits will prevent injury
- Replace the judgment of a qualified sports doctor, physiotherapist, or medical professional
The ACWR (Acute:Chronic Workload Ratio) and governing body guidelines displayed in BowlSafe are reference tools based on published sports science research. Individual players may have different tolerances based on factors the app cannot measure.
If a player experiences pain, discomfort, or any symptoms of injury, they should stop bowling immediately and seek medical advice regardless of what the app displays.
4. Governing body guidelines
BowlSafe displays guidelines from Cricket Australia (CA), the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), and New Zealand Cricket (NZC). These guidelines are reproduced for reference purposes with attribution to the original sources.
For players in countries without official guidelines (India, South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and others), BowlSafe offers the option to voluntarily adopt CA or ECB guidelines as a reference framework. These are clearly labelled as reference frameworks and are not official guidelines for those countries.
Guidelines may change over time. BowlSafe endeavours to keep guidelines current but cannot guarantee they reflect the most recent governing body publications at all times.
