The problem

Extraordinary load.
Underdeveloped bones.

Fast bowling places forces of 3× bodyweight through the lumbar spine every delivery. Young bowlers haven't built the bone density to absorb it. The result is a preventable epidemic of stress fractures that ends careers before they begin.

What BowlSafe does

Built for cricket.
Not adapted from somewhere else.

Every feature exists because a coach, player, or sports doctor needed it — not because a product manager thought it sounded good.

Real-time load tracking
Log every spell and session. Daily, weekly, and monthly loads calculated automatically. Progress bars show coaches at a glance who needs rest.
Official guideline integration
CA, ECB, and NZC guidelines built in by age group. One tap to apply the correct limits. Attribution shown on every screen for compliance.
ACWR trend chart
Acute:Chronic Workload Ratio calculated automatically from every session. An 8-week rolling chart shows acute (7-day) and chronic (28-day) load lines, with the 0.8–1.3 safe zone shaded green so coaches and players can see trends at a glance. Sudden spikes above this zone are one of the strongest predictors of bowling injuries — spotting them early means you can adjust before it becomes a problem.
RPE & session load (AU)
Every session captures duration and Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) on the 1–10 CR10 scale. Session Load is calculated as RPE × Duration = Arbitrary Units (AU) — the Foster Method used by sports scientists — and shown as an amber overlay on the ACWR trend chart, plus an average RPE card for coaches. Ball count alone doesn't tell the whole story: a tough, high-intensity session loads the body more than an easy one with the same number of balls, so RPE captures the effort behind the numbers.
Next week recommendation
A target ball count for next week is calculated from the 28-day chronic average × 1.1 (a target ACWR of 1.1) — giving players and coaches a clear, individualised number to plan the next training block around.
Instant coach alerts
Coaches notified the moment a player approaches their limit. Eight alert types including ACWR spikes, consecutive days, deload recommendations, and match/training ratio warnings.
Multi-coach support
Head coach, bowling coach, physio, and sports doctor all see the same player data simultaneously. Cross-organisation coaching supported — school coach and club coach together.
PDF & CSV exports
One-tap reports for individual players, full squads, and entire organisations. Duty of care documentation for schools and high performance programs.

Why BowlSafe exists

Built for a problem I saw firsthand

"

I built BowlSafe after seeing how many junior fast bowlers get sidelined by injuries that proper load tracking could have flagged weeks earlier. A kid bowling for school on Tuesday and club on Saturday has two separate coaches each seeing half the picture — neither one knows the real weekly load until it's already too high. You shouldn't need a sports science degree to catch that. The guidelines already exist, they just weren't built into anything a player, coach, or club could log in five seconds.
