BowlSafe is committed to protecting the privacy of players, coaches, and administrators — especially juniors. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Who we are
BowlSafe is operated by The Trustee for Lien Trust — Rowan Freight & Logistic Group Pty Ltd T/A BowlSafe (ABN 76 571 549 850), based in Western Australia, Australia. You can contact us at hello@bowlsafe.com.au.
What data we collect
We collect the following information when you use BowlSafe:
- Account information — name, email address, date of birth, role (player, coach, admin)
- Bowling session data — ball counts, spell lengths, session dates, session types
- Health and risk profile — previous injury history (LBSI), growth spurt flag, physical profile flags (optional, provided by the user)
- Governing body and guidelines — country, governing body, adopted guideline framework
- Coaching relationships — which coaches are linked to which players
- Organisation data — club or school name, coaching group assignments
- Payment data — handled entirely by Stripe. BowlSafe does not store card details. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status only.
- Usage data — app interactions, device type, browser type (via Firebase Analytics)
How we use your data
- To calculate bowling load, ACWR workload ratio, and guideline compliance
- To send coach alerts when players approach or exceed safe workload limits
- To generate PDF and CSV reports for duty of care documentation
- To manage your subscription and process payments via Stripe
- To improve the app and fix bugs
- To communicate with you about your account (transactional emails only — no marketing without consent)
Junior players and parental consent
BowlSafe is designed for use with junior cricketers of all ages, including players under 13. We take the privacy of minors seriously:
- Players aged 13 and over may register their own account with parental or guardian consent if under 18
- Players under 13 must be added by a coach or parent — they do not register their own accounts
- Coaches and club administrators are responsible for ensuring parental consent is obtained for all players under 18 in their care
- We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent
- If you believe a child under 13 has self-registered without consent, contact us at hello@bowlsafe.com.au and we will delete the account promptly
Legal basis: Our approach to children's data is guided by the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the United Kingdom Age Appropriate Design Code (Children's Code) under UK GDPR, the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Apple App Store and Google Play developer policies also inform our approach. Where these laws conflict, we apply the most protective standard.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We share data only with the following service providers who help us operate BowlSafe:
- Google Firebase — database, authentication, hosting, and cloud functions (Google Cloud infrastructure)
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
- Formspree — contact form submissions from the website
Within the app, player data is shared with coaches who the player has explicitly linked to their account via invite code or email connection. Players control which coaches can see their data.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure (Google Cloud Platform), hosted in Australia and the United States. Google Firebase complies with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other industry security standards.
We use Firebase Security Rules to ensure players can only be seen by their linked coaches, and that coaches can only access players in their coaching groups.
How long we keep your data
- Active accounts — data is retained for as long as your account is active
- Deleted accounts — data is deleted within 30 days of account deletion request
- Session data — retained for the life of the account to support ACWR calculations and historical reporting
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Export your session data in CSV format (available in the app)
- Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time

Cookies and analytics
The BowlSafe website uses no advertising cookies. We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used — this data is aggregated and anonymous. You can opt out of analytics in your device settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or an in-app notification. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
